Howler Monkey Sanctuary is located 35 miles northwest of Belize City and a one of a kind conservation.
Shane, a local has developed a great relationship to help protect the population and habitat of Belize’s Black Howler Monkey, affectionately called “baboons” by the locals.
The sanctuary is about 16 square miles along the Belize River and is an easy walk through the Rainforest where your guide will call out to the monkeys. The baby monkeys will come down from the trees and eat out of your hand, while the adults stay back and watch.
Howler monkeys are the second loudest animal in the world next to the Lion.
