The Belize Zoo and Tropical Education Center was started in 1983, and remains home for a variety of exotic animals.
Sometimes referred to as the backyard “zoo” the Belize Zoo and Tropical Education Center is on 29 acres of tropical savanna and home to over 150 animals, representing over 45 species that are all native to Belize.
The zoo is known for keeping animals that were orphaned, rescued or needed rehabilitation. The caregivers are very caring towards the animals
